Diy Stair Runner Installation. I decided it's fine though. (i wrote a post about that project here) the problem with a stair runner is that i couldn’t find one that was both long enough and pretty enough.
Order more runner than you think you need. I did it by myself, but there were definitely a few spots that would’ve been nice to have an extra pair of hands. The first step was to rip up the existing runner, and then give the stairs a coat of paint.
Staple each edge of the runner 2 inches above bottom of riser.
This was the first time finn and i had ever tackled a project like this, so we did a lot of research ahead of time. I used a runner pad i had, which is unfortunately several inches narrower than the runner. My main goal was to choose a runner that was durable and would hide. Installing a stair runner may seem intimidating, and the good news is that adding ours was pretty darn easy and we love how it looks (and feels underfoot).
